Having explained the Y-DNA distribution in the world in my
previous article, now it is time to deal with the haplogroup distribution of the Trabzon
province.
This study is fully based on my personal investigations and
on personal test results. In the study Y-DNA (father line) results of 90 people
from Trabzon were used and it will be updated from time to time.
Trabzon haplogroup table
Let’s look more carefully at the haplogroups on the pie chart;
G2a-M406: The
most dominant sub-branch of the G2a haplogroups in Trabzon. Anatolia is
where it is found in the highest frequency. It is one of the ancient Anatolian
haplogroups. It is the most dominant haplogroup in Trabzon and frequent in
every district. The other G2a branches are mostly FGC7535.
L1b (Pontic Cluster,
PH8+): It is the sub-branch of L1b that is found intensely in the eastern
Black Sea region, it is found intensely beginning from the east of Trabzon. I
think it is higher than normal due to the fact that most of the samples are
from the east of Trabzon, its ration should be around 18-20% if we do an
arithmetic distribution.
J2a: Almost all
of its sub-branches that are frequent in Trabzon are M67 and M92 branches. M67
branches are seen in the Caucasus, Anatolia and South European countries, these
groups migrated to Europe via Anatolia. M92 is freqent in Anatolia and Europe.
Its ratio in Trabzon is probably 23-25%.
M67
M92
J1a-J1b: People
who belong to the S12192 sub-branch of J1a belong to the Cohanim (Jewish priest
caste) branches, the others are Anatolian branches.
E1b: This branch,
most of which is V13, is about 7% in Trabzon, it is most frequent in Greece and
the Balkans.
I2a: Frequent in
the Balkans and East and West Europe. Its ration in Trabzon is around 6%.
R1b: Around 7% in
Trabzon. Vast majority of them belong to the Z2103 branch.
